Chris Romer
Entrepreneur and Former Colorado State Senator
Chris Romer is an entrepreneur and former legislator. He is a recognized expert in higher education budget issues, higher education capital finance, and education policy.
Romer has worked as a public finance banker with JPMorgan Chase, working on public projects including the Denver International Airport, Children's Hospital, the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, National Jewish Medical and Research Center and FasTracks.
As a Colorado State Senator from 2007 to 2011, he spent a significant amount of time and effort to helping reforming K12 education and was an instrumental architect and advocate for educational reform legislation.
Romer has helped to build several public-private mission-driven B-Corp companies, including Guild Education and Project Canary. Project Canary is a B-Corp with a mission to help the oil and gas industry reduce methane leaks and so limit its climate impact.
He was also the co-founder of Digital Education Company (DES), which provided affordable online courses and training for students and adults to learn the latest computer programming languages.
Additionally, Chris is the founder and past President of the Colorado I Have a Dream Foundation, which provides mentoring programs and scholarship funds for low-income and inner-city students, and past President of the Colorado Children’s Campaign, a children’s advocacy group.
Chris graduated with honors from Stanford University with a bachelor’s degree in economics.
